Tennis, Track, Grandparents, and John

Last week was super busy. Not only did Blanton win his tennis match, but he got second place behind his teammate, Drew, in the two mile race at his track meet. Go Mavericks!! I used a weed eater for the first time in my life! It was not fun, but it felt great later when my yard looked so much better. (Many thanks to Alyson for your huge help mowing!!!!) My sweet grandparents, Grandmother and Pops, came on Friday to see Blanton's track meet and my new house. I had a great surprise that night when my other brother John showed up at my door! He just moved from South Carolina to Moss Point. This was the first time I have seen him since Christmas. On Saturday, my mom, Grandmother, and I went shopping and had lunch while the men played tennis and hung out. That night I went to Yazoo City and ate steak with the fam. It was a great week and weekend! I am so glad I got to spend some time with Grandmother, Pops, and John. It doesn't happen very often so it was really great.

Side note: When I wrote this post, I was planning on posting pictures of everyone I talked about. Unfortunately, this is the only one I could get to work. I will have to post the others later.

The Story of How We Met.

(Above: Riley and his cousin Lily. She is my youngest brother Blanton's dog.)

I thought I would introduce Riley since he will be mentioned often. Here goes from the beginning...

I adopted Riley three and half years ago. I had been waiting for years to be able to get a dog. The entire summer before I got him I had been researching what would be the best breed for me. I would spend hours on the internet, reading books, and checking the paper. I had decided on either a pomeranian or a maltese. The week I moved into the apartment that allowed pets I decided to visit the animal shelter in Starkville just to check it out. I walked through the lines of cages and stopped in front of one full of puppies. As soon as I stopped, there was a wall of wild paws, noses, and tongues asking to be taken home. I was especially taken with one that looked like a german shepherd. He was so cute and fluffy. (I love German Shepherds and have wanted one for as long as I can remember.) One of the guys who worked there came in and asked me if I wanted to hold one. I was about to tell him I wanted the German Shepherd puppy when I saw two puppies all the way in the back of the kennel not even bothering to stand up much less follow the herd. I pointed to dirty white baby with an obvious eye problem. When I took him from the guy, I felt his head snuggle into my neck. He let out a little sigh, and I knew I couldn't let him go back into that kennel.

Where to start...

After months of "stalking", I have finally started my own blog! I've been thinking and thinking about what my first post should be, and I decided to start with a few things about myself.

1) I moved from Starkville back home in June and have been working in Ridgeland since I moved.

2) I just bought my first home last month. I am super excited and scared all at the same time! It is great!

3) My family and friends mean the world to me.

4) My dog Riley makes me happy everyday. There is nothing better than coming home to someone who is ALWAYS excited to see you no matter how long you left them (3 minutes or 3 days. It doesn't matter.).

5) I love animals. My dream job is starting my own business that involves them in some way. (I have alot of ideas for this. Just need the money.)

6) I can't imagine life without music, movies, and T.V. You can always tell what kind of mood I'm in by what I'm listening to that day.

7) I love lists. I make lists for everything.

8) My favorite thing about finding a new friend is learning about them and what they love. I can sit for hours and listen to someone tell me about their life and dreams.

9) I wish all of my friends could live within a few hours away instead of half way across the country.

10) I am very excited to be able to meet new people, find a new church, and reconnect with old friends in my new town.

This is just a little peek into my little life. More will come for sure!
